Two Years Today Since Transplant 2.0

Dear Family and Friends,
Today is the second anniversary of Barry’s second transplant. We met with David Miklos yesterday and I asked if Barry was “cured”. (Barry was not happy about this question. He thinks it’s a jinx.)
First David said, jokingly, “I always consider my patients cured until they’re not.” He then amended his sarcastic statement with this very meaningful one.

Billionaires who leave should never come back.

Facebook billionaire, Eduardo Saverin gave up his U. S. citizenship to avoid taxes, joining other billionaires who took spots in our universities and then went on to take advantage of our pro-business environment to enrich themselves, but don’t feel any obligation to give back. Avoiding taxes is a very smart idea from a tax standpoint, according a professor at U. Mich law school.
I say, lets make it a very dumb idea from a social and geopolitical standpoint. Tax scofflaws such as Saverin should be barred from ever entering the U.S. again. No work visa, no green card, no humanitarian entry for medical treatment, no asylum. Let’s put a price on this tactic by crass rip off artists.
